A joint endeavor of OneWorld and the Digital Divide Network, Digital Opportunity Channel is an online clearinghouse for news, ideas, and opportunities related to the use of information and communication technology for sustainable development, social change, economic opportunity, and a better quality of life.  It is a resource for organizations and individuals working to bridge the digital divide in the developing world as well as for governments, businesses, academics, and civil society stakeholders wanting to keep up to speed on the latest breakthroughs, initiatives, and debates in the field.

The Channel provides online discussions, original columns and editorials, and a weekly email digest.  It divides breaking news by development sector with a dedicated section for tracking ICT-relevant government policy developments in the developing world.  A bulletin board features calls for papers, event announcements, volunteer opportunities, design and innovation contests, and development campaigns.  Resource pages provide links to ICT-related Web sites, data sets and research.

UNESCO announces the launch of Digital Opportunity Channel in 2002:
"Digital Opportunity Channel builds on OneWorld's seven years of experience in ICT for development and presents content from OneWorld's worldwide partnership of over 1,250 development, human rights and environment NGOs…." – read more.
